April 09 2024. Update. No plans of abandoning this project, I want a good render for this piece. That being said, I'm either going to have to work on it a bit less, or get back to it. The work load is a bit much on top of life. With luck, in a few days I can start pecking at this and get it done before the suns heat dies off.
This is inspired by The Daughter of Khaine cover by Thomas Elliot. I wanted to have a proper render by now, and have failed. Posting a WIP so no one thinks I'm slacking off since my last posted piece. This started off as a project for ancient weapons from around the world series. For hard surface reasons. I ran into an immovable creators block, so I went around it. While I don't have plans to be a character artist, something was needed to push off. Hence the character part of this piece. It won't be the focus of the render. After this blockout of the character, the reroute around the creators block was made clear. Currently it's easy to say I'm going to sculpt more, retopo is taking longer than expected.
This project made me real confortable with Zmodeller brush, and certainly help me gain a better understanding of anatomy. The snake body and torso pose were sculpted in pose. I was a wimp and sculpted the head and skulls in the traditional orientation. Each scale on the snake body were individually put in place. Other methods didn't give me the look I wanted; as in the tapper of the body and stretching of the skin.
I won't promise to change anything, however feedback is welcomed. I need to finish this up and move on to another project.
